SinC Race to Kingston 400Kingston Yacht Club and Mimico Cruising Club have joined forces to co-host the new destination distance race, Race to Kingston. The new adventure will kick off on August 12, 2022 at Mimico Cruising Club with good drinks and good food. The race will begin the following Saturday morning on August 13th, 2022 with racers ending in scenic Kingston, Ontario.

Chris Bobyk, Fleet Captain at Mimico Cruising Club, shares “At MCC racing is a passion and we are delighted to be part of this destination race in partnership with KYC and North Sails to the premier destination on the lake, the City of Kingston.”

The idea for the destination distance race came from long time sailor and industry supporter Hugh Beaton. “Kingston is the perfect place to finish a distance race - downtown harbours within walking distance to restaurants and plenty of opportunity for competitors to mingle after the race. As we see with the other Great Lakes classics, this is a winning formula.”

Joining Western and Eastern ends of the lake, racers and cruisers, families and friends, Race to Kingston is the perfect way to experience the City of Kingston and 1000 Islands.” adds Glenn Warner, Vice Commodore of Kingston Yacht Club.

Silver medal for Andre Deseau of West Van YC

Close to 40 young Canadian sailors were in action last weekend for the Midwinters West competitions held in California.

At the ILCA-NA Midwinters West held at Marina del Rey, Andre Deseau was the top Canadian with a second-place finish in the ILCA 4 class. The athlete from West Vancouver Yacht Club had a strong last day with a 4th, 1st and 3rd position, allowing him to climb from third to second spot.
